Before Your First On-Site Video Visit at Brevard County Jail: What to Leave in Your Car
On-site video visits at Brevard County Jail are straightforward, but the rules about what you can bring inside are strict. Here's what to leave behind so you don't get turned away or have your visit cut short.
Brevard County Jail uses Smart Communications kiosks for all visitation. There are no face-to-face visits unless you're an attorney or have special approval from Jail Command. Remote video visits run in 15- or 30-minute sessions at $0.25 per minute ($3.75 for 15 minutes, $7.50 for 30 minutes). On-site visits happen at the jail's kiosk area and come with very specific rules about what stays in your car.
Must Stay in Car
- ✓ Your cell phone
- ✓ Any personal property other than your ID
- ✓ Anything you brought with you that is not your ID (secure it in your vehicle before your scheduled visit)
When you arrive for your on-site visit, follow the posted rules for video visitation. Breaking them can end your visit early or get your visitation privileges suspended. No smoking or eating in the visitation area. Non-alcoholic beverages are only allowed in the designated waiting area, so finish any snacks before you go in and keep drinks where they're permitted.
Don't use any electronic device during your visit to view images, record, or take photos. This is one of the fastest ways to lose your visit. If you break this rule, the jail can end your session immediately and suspend your visitation privileges for a minimum of 30 days. The posted rules apply to all video visitation, and violations can lead to suspension or permanent loss of visiting privileges.
Warning: Pull out a phone or use any device to view images, record, or photograph during your visit, and your session can be ended on the spot. You can also be suspended from visitation for at least 30 days.
- Ask the on-site Visitation Clerk for help. If the kiosk is not working right or you are stuck mid-check-in, they are the right person to contact.
- Follow the posted video visitation rules. Visits are run through Smart Communications kiosks, and rule violations can cost you your visit and your privileges.
