How to Visit Facility

The Brevard County Jail Complex doesn't offer traditional face-to-face visits. The only exceptions are professional visits or those specially approved by Jail Command. For most families and friends, that means video visitation is your only option. Don't show up expecting to see someone in person.

Warning: You must follow the posted inmate/visitor rules for all visits, including video. Breaking a rule during an on-site or remote visit can lead to your visitation privileges being suspended or terminated.

Video visits can be scheduled 24 hours to 7 days in advance. Available time blocks are 8:00 to 12:00, 13:00 to 17:00, and 20:00 to 22:30. You'll choose either a 15-minute or 30-minute visit when you book. Pricing is $0.25 per minute, so a 15-minute visit costs $3.75 and a 30-minute visit costs $7.50.

For remote video visits from home, you'll need to set up an account with Smart Communications before your first visit. If you're visiting on-site, leave everything in your car. All personal property (including cell phones) must be secured in your vehicle before the scheduled visit. The only thing you should bring inside is your ID.

Steps to Follow

  • Schedule your remote or on-demand visit at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Schedule no more than 7 days ahead.
  • Pick a time within the available blocks: 8:00–12:00, 13:00–17:00, or 20:00–22:30.
  • Choose a 15-minute visit ($3.75) or a 30-minute visit ($7.50).
  • Expect the rate to be $0.25 per minute.
  1. Create your Smart Communications account - set it up before you attempt a remote video visit from home.
  2. Log in before your scheduled time - being signed in and ready helps you avoid missing the start of your visit.
  3. Initiate the visit through your account - start the session using the provider’s process.
  • Before an on-site visit, secure all personal property in your vehicle (including your cell phone). Keep only your ID with you.

Reminder: Follow all inmate/visitor rules for every visit type. Rule violations during on-site or remote video visits can cost you your visitation privileges.

Think you might qualify for an exception to the no face-to-face policy? Confirm it before making plans. In-person visits are limited to professional visits or those specially approved by Jail Command, so verify whether your situation qualifies.

Check the current booking rules before locking in a date. The jail requires scheduling at least 24 hours ahead (up to 7 days), and visits happen during specific daily time blocks: 8:00–12:00, 13:00–17:00, and 20:00–22:30. Schedules can change.

Confirm pricing and visit lengths when you book. Video visits come in 15- or 30-minute sessions at $0.25 per minute ($3.75 for 15 minutes, $7.50 for 30 minutes). Fees can change over time.

Before your first home visit, double-check that Smart Communications is still the required provider and that your account is ready. For on-site visits, verify the property rules ahead of time. The jail requires you to secure personal property in your vehicle before your scheduled visit, keeping only your ID with you.

Tip: Use the jail’s posted visitation information and official contact options to confirm the latest schedule, pricing, and any exceptions before you go.
