Bringing a Child to Visit: Bristol County's Minor Visitor Rules

Planning to bring anyone 17 or younger? You'll need a Minor Request to Visit form. Bristol County requires a separate form for each child, and it has to be notarized before you submit it. Grab the form from the BCSO website, or the inmate can mail one to you.

Remember: You must complete one Minor Request to Visit form per child - don’t try to list multiple minors on a single form.

Don't skip the notarization step - Bristol County won't accept the form without it. And even with an approved form, the child can't visit alone. A responsible adult who's already approved to visit that inmate has to bring them in.

Key rule: Only one or two minors (age 17 or younger) may visit one inmate, and only when they’re accompanied by a previously approved adult visitor.

Docs to Bring

  • Approved Minor Request to Visit form
  • The minor’s birth certificate (required each time you visit)

Allowed Items Infants

  • Lightweight receiving blanket
  • Pacifier
  • Plastic feeding bottle
  • Do not bring a diaper bag
Bringing a Child to Visit: Bristol County's Minor Visitor Rules
  1. Fill out a separate Minor Request to Visit form for each child - Bristol County requires one form per minor.
  2. Get each form notarized before you submit it - a notary stamp/signature is required.
  3. Make sure the accompanying adult is already approved for that inmate - minors must be brought by a responsible adult who is pre-approved to visit the listed inmate.
  4. Keep a copy for yourself - it helps to have a backup if anything gets misplaced.
  5. Bring the approved form and the child’s birth certificate every time - both must be presented at each visit.

Easy mistakes to avoid: Don't bring more than two minors to see the same inmate. Bringing an infant? You can bring a blanket, pacifier, and plastic bottle - but no diaper bags.
