Virtual Attorney Visits at Broward Transitional Center: Scheduling, Who Can Join, and Rules
Broward Transitional Center offers Virtual Attorney Visitation (VAV) for confidential attorney–client conversations via Skype and Microsoft Teams. The facility positions VAV as a timely, efficient option when in-person meetings aren't practical - though it's not meant to replace face-to-face legal visits entirely.
To schedule a virtual legal visit or ask questions about VAV, reach out to the facility's designated contacts. Call 954-973-4485 ext. 129796 or email BTCVTC3900@geogroup.com with your request, and staff will coordinate the setup.

- ✓ Bar card (from any state)
- ✓ Other available documentation demonstrating bar membership
- ✓ Have your identification ready to show prior to the scheduled virtual meeting
Broward restricts who can join a VAV session. Only legal representatives, legal assistants, and interpreters are permitted. Family and friends cannot participate in virtual attorney visits.
If you're a family member trying to reach someone, this restriction can be frustrating - especially when time matters. Detainees at Broward Transitional Center cannot receive incoming phone calls. To leave an urgent message, call 954-973-4485 and provide the detainee's full name and alien registration number, plus your name and callback number. The facility also provides tablets with messaging options for non-confidential communication.
Need language support during a VAV session? Broward's policy allows legal representatives to contact outside interpretation services during the call. This lets attorneys bring in an interpreter as needed while keeping the meeting virtual.
VAV sessions are designated as confidential legal visits, but security measures remain in place. A visitation officer will be stationed outside the confidential room during your session.
Broward's recording rule is absolute: legal representatives and their staff cannot video or audio record during any virtual or in-person visit, or during any call with non-citizens at the facility. Treat VAV sessions like in-person legal visits - no recording, period.
Warning: Recording violations may lead to suspension or permanent revocation of VAV user privileges.
Looking to talk with a loved one at Broward Transitional Center? VAV isn't an option - family and friends can't join those legal video sessions. Detainees also cannot receive incoming phone calls. For urgent situations, call the facility and leave a message with identifying information so it can be delivered. For non-urgent contact, Broward provides tablets with a messaging service for non-confidential communication.
