Pick a top that keeps you fully covered no matter how you move. Your cleavage, back, and midriff need to stay hidden whether you're standing, sitting, or bending down. Test your outfit at home before you go.

Skip thin, spaghetti-strap tops. Even if you plan to layer, this is one of the easiest ways to get turned away at the door.

Wear pants the way they're meant to fit - no sagging. Skirts, dresses, and shorter pants must hit at or below the top of your knee when you're standing. A quick mirror check before you leave saves hassle at the door.

Don’t risk it: Shorts of any style and cargo pants are not allowed in the visiting area.

Color matters. Avoid solid gray, green, orange, white, yellow, or camouflage - anything that could look like offender attire. Not sure about something? Leave it at home. That's easier than being turned away or asked to reschedule.

Keep jewelry minimal. You can wear a wedding ring set, one religious medallion, and medical alert badges. Everything else stays behind.

Leave tobacco and nicotine products at home. Cigarettes, vapes, e-cigarettes, vaping liquid, and tobacco substitutes are all contraband - visitors can't bring them in.

Electronics that communicate or record aren't allowed. Cell phones, tablets, smart glasses, pagers, and portable computers are contraband unless specifically authorized by the DOC executive director.

Outside food stays outside. The only exception is baby food. In limited cases, the administrative head can approve other exceptions, including disability accommodations.

Bringing prescription medication? Only pack what you'll need during the visit - no extra. Keep it in the original pharmacy container with the label attached.

Staff will hold your medication while you're inside. All prescriptions brought by visitors stay at the officer station for accountability.
