Visiting Someone at Burleigh County Detention Center: Schedule, Rules, and What to Expect
Visiting someone in jail can feel overwhelming the first time—especially when you're figuring out schedules and rules. Here's what you need to know about visitation at Burleigh County Detention Center: days, hours, ID requirements, time limits, and what to leave at home.
Visitation happens twice a week: Tuesday and Thursday, 1–4 pm. The schedule is consistent, with one exception - no visits on holidays. If your visit falls near a holiday, call ahead before making the trip.
To visit, you must be 18 or older, or you’ll need to come with an adult. If you’re bringing someone under 18, plan ahead so you’re not turned away at the door - this rule is enforced at check-in.
Bring photo ID. You'll need it at check-in - no exceptions.
Note: Visitors must be dressed appropriately. If you’re unsure whether something will pass, call ahead and ask before you go.
Visits are short. Each inmate gets one 20-minute visit per visitation day, and only two visitors can be at the station at a time. If more than two people want to visit, sort out who's going in before you arrive - you don't want to waste time figuring it out at check-in.
No appointment needed. But if you want to reserve a time slot, call (701) 255-3113 the day before or the day of your visit.
