How to Become an Approved Visitor for Someone at Butts County Detention Center
Before you can visit someone at Butts County Detention Center, you need to get approved. Start by filling out the Visitation Request Form and submitting it to the facility. Once approved, you can move on to scheduling your visit.
Submit your completed Visitation Request Form to Butts County Detention Center at 835 Ernest Biles Drive, Jackson, GA 30233. Make sure everything is filled out completely - approval has to happen before anything else.
Immediate Family
- ✓ Parents
- ✓ Brothers
- ✓ Sisters
- ✓ Spouse
- ✓ Grandparents
- ✓ Grandchildren
- ✓ Children
Not immediate family? You may still qualify as a "significant relationship" visitor. This includes step-parents, in-laws, cousins, friends, employers, and pastors. Here's the catch: the incarcerated person has to initiate the request for you.
For significant relationship visitation, your loved one fills out the "Significant Relationship Visitor Application for Visitation Privilege" form. It then goes to the Warden/Superintendent for review. Your job from the outside? Make sure they have your correct information so they can complete their part accurately.
Supporting Docs
- ✓ Documents that support the relationship you’re claiming (the facility may require supporting documentation to verify relationships)
- ✓ Examples to have ready if requested: a birth certificate, marriage certificate, or other paperwork that ties you to your loved one
After the application is submitted, the Warden/Superintendent reviews it. Once a decision is made, your loved one gets notified - and they'll need to pass the news along to you.
Approved? Now you can request an actual visit. Submit your request through the Georgia DOC visitation form. If you haven't been approved yet, don't skip ahead - get that approval first, then book your visit.
