Visitation at Byrd Unit, TX

How to visit, scheduling, dress code, and visitor requirements

Overview

To visit someone at the Byrd Unit, schedule through the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler. You'll need to create your own account—unit staff can't do this for you. When adding an inmate to your profile, search using their 8-digit TDCJ or SID number so the system links correctly. Your relationship request goes to the unit for verification and stays pending until approved. Visit types include Regular, Contact, and Video/Tablet where available, depending on the inmate's privileges and the unit's layout. Most visits (except attorney–client) may be electronically monitored. Visiting hours are normally Saturdays and Sundays, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Confirm the inmate's assignment, current visitation privileges, and the unit schedule before traveling. Call the unit for final confirmation—schedules are updated daily on visitation days.
