Requesting ADA Testing Accommodations for Louisiana Corrections Exams: What You Need to Know

Need testing accommodations for an Office of State Examiner (OSE) regional exam? You can request them under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). OSE provides reasonable accommodations so candidates with disabilities can take the exam under fair conditions - without changing what the test measures.

Your provider documentation needs to be specific and current. OSE requires an original letter typed on official letterhead and dated within the past three years. The letter must document the disability (including severity), describe the limitations you experience because of it, and state exactly what testing accommodations are required. It also needs the provider’s original signature and their credentials.

Timing matters as much as the paperwork. OSE must receive all required documentation (your exam application, Testing Accommodations Request Form, and provider documentation) no later than two weeks before the scheduled test date you’re requesting accommodations for. On top of that, Veteran’s points and ADA accommodation requests have to be received by the application deadline and sent to OSEregionaltesting@la.gov - so don’t wait until the last minute to start gathering documents.

One easy way to derail your request is to forget the signature. OSE will not process a Testing Accommodations Request Form that isn’t signed. And even with a signed form, OSE may deny an ADA accommodation request if the documentation you submit doesn’t provide enough detail to support what you’re asking for.
