Visitation
Visiting someone at Caledonia Correctional takes planning, but it's manageable once you know the basics. Be ready for a pat/frisk search at entry—these have been mandatory for most prison visitors since October 16, 2017. Before scheduling an in-person visit, you'll need to be on the incarcerated person's approved visitor list. Usually, they'll provide you with the visitor application forms to fill out. North Carolina facilities may offer both in-person and video visits, but available visit types, hours, and eligibility rules vary by location. Check the Caledonia facility page before you go.
Communication
At Caledonia Correctional, staying in touch happens through electronic tablets, phone systems, digital messaging, and video visits. Third-party vendors run these services, so you'll manage most communication through the vendor's app or online portal—not directly through the facility. Create an account, add the person in custody, and use the same portal to handle payments and settings for calls, messages, and video sessions. Once both accounts are approved, you can schedule a video visit, start an on-demand session (when available), and add funds for paid features. On the security side, North Carolina DPS has expanded cellphone-detection efforts and pursued Managed Access System equipment to detect, intercept, and block unauthorized cellphones.
Contact
The NC Department of Public Safety's Prison Safety Action Steps report has Caledonia Correctional's official mailing and office addresses, along with phone and fax contact information. For emergencies involving someone at the facility, call 911 immediately. For non-emergencies—questions about an incarcerated person's status, visiting, or administrative matters—use the facility phone number or NC DPS contact listings. Before calling, have the person's full name ready and their offender or booking ID if you have it. Know exactly what you're asking so you can explain it quickly. For court-case questions, contact the clerk of court in the county where the case is filed rather than calling the facility.
