How to Add Visitors or Cancel a Scheduled Visit (GDC online tools)

Adding visitors and canceling visits both start in the same place: GDC's

  1. Go to GDC’s “Visit an Inmate” page - this is where the visit-management options are listed.
  2. Select “Add Visitor” - this tool is specifically for adding additional visitors to a previously scheduled visitation.
  3. Find your scheduled visitation - follow the prompts to locate the appointment you already scheduled.
  4. Add the additional visitors - once the appointment is pulled up, follow the prompts to add the people you need to include.
  1. Go to GDC’s “Visit an Inmate” page - start where GDC lists the cancellation tool.
  2. Select “Cancel my visit” - this option is for canceling an existing scheduled visitation appointment.
  3. Find your scheduled visitation - follow the prompts to pull up the appointment.
  4. Cancel the appointment - complete the cancellation through the tool. If you know you can’t make it, cancel as soon as you can so the schedule is accurate.

Watch the cutoff times, especially if you're adjusting plans close to the weekend. For weekend visits, the deadline to request changes is 5:00 PM on Wednesday of that same week. Don't wait until Thursday - handle it before Wednesday's cutoff.

Holidays have separate deadlines. The cutoff for state holiday visits is 5:00 PM three days before the holiday. If you need to add visitors or cancel around a holiday, make the change before that three-day cutoff - last-minute requests won't go through.

Warning: GDC can refuse or revoke visitation if someone is suspected of attempting to introduce contraband, is caught with contraband on the premises, or is otherwise suspected of contraband-related activity.

Even with a visit already on the calendar, GDC can deny or revoke it for other reasons. Being deceptive on the significant-other form, repeated warnings about a specific behavior, or facility security needs can all result in suspended visitation privileges.

Trying to resolve a denial? Know the limits: the Ombudsman unit cannot overturn a Warden's decision to deny or revoke visitation.
