How to Send Food Packages via Union Supply (and the Riverbend exception)

Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) uses Union Supply for approved food packages sent to people in State Prisons, Integrated Treatment Facilities (ITFs), and Probation Detention Centers. If your loved one is at one of those facility types, Union Supply is your go-to - with one important exception covered below.

You don't have to be incarcerated to place an order. Approved family and friends can order through Union Supply on the inmate's behalf.

Ordering by mail? Send your completed order to: Union Supply, 2500 Regent Blvd Dept. 421, P.O. Box 619059, Dallas, TX 75261-9059. Use the full address exactly - skipping the department number or P.O. Box can delay processing.

  • Order by phone: 1-562-361-5719
  • Order by phone (toll-free): 1-855-247-0563
  • Order by fax: 1-310-603-1188

Every Union Supply order includes a $2.95 shipping and handling charge. That fee is non-refundable, so double-check your order before submitting.

Package limits depend on where the person is housed. State Prisons and ITFs allow up to $100 per offender or 15 lbs. per package - whichever you hit first. Probation Detention Centers cap it at $50 per offender or 7 lbs. per package. If multiple orders are placed, they'll be combined into one package, and the totals still can't exceed these limits.

Riverbend exception: Riverbend Private Prison still uses Access Securepak - not Union Supply - until further notice. Confirm which vendor applies before ordering so your package goes through the right program.

How to Send Food Packages via Union Supply (and the Riverbend exception)
  1. Confirm where your loved one is assigned - Union Supply applies to State Prisons, ITFs, and Probation Detention Centers, but the spending/weight limits are different depending on the facility type.
  2. Make sure you’re approved to order - the program is for approved family and friends, so verify you’re cleared before you spend time filling out an order.
  3. Plan your order around the limits - for State Prisons/ITFs, keep it within $100 per offender or 15 lbs. per package (whichever comes first); for Probation Detention Centers, stay within $50 per offender or 7 lbs. per package.
  4. Avoid placing multiple small orders - if more than one order is submitted, they’ll be consolidated into one package and still can’t exceed the limits.
  5. Save your confirmation and a copy of what you sent - especially if you order by mail or fax, keeping a record makes it easier to track what was ordered and when.
  6. Watch for deadlines - GDC notes that orders received after the deadline won’t be accepted, so don’t wait until the last minute if you’re ordering close to a cutoff.

Before you pay: If your loved one is at Riverbend, use Access Securepak instead of Union Supply until further notice.
