CSP Solano tablet & phone transition (March 2025): what families need to know

The phone transition at CSP Solano happens March 2, 2025. If you're planning calls around the change, treat that date as the cutoff.

Tablets switch over March 4–6, 2025. It's a multi-day exchange window, so your loved one might not get the new tablet right away - expect the rollout to happen gradually across those three days.

Video call rates are dropping. ViaPath charges $0.16 per minute; Securus charges $0.10 per minute. If you use video visits often, that difference adds up.

Nothing transfers from ViaPath tablets to the new Securus ones - photos, e-messages, media, all of it stays behind. If your loved one wants to keep anything, they need to handle it before the exchange.

During the transition, incarcerated people at CSP Solano must exchange devices: they’ll turn in their ViaPath tablet and receive a new Securus tablet. That swap is part of the rollout process, so it’s normal for access to change as the exchange happens.

How refunds work depends on whose balance it is. Families can request refunds for unused ViaPath balances through the ViaPath call center. Balances held by incarcerated people are different - those get refunded automatically to their trust account.
