Before Your First Visit to Camille Graham: What to Bring and What to Leave Home
Your first visit to Camille Graham Corrections Center goes smoother when you show up with the right ID, bring only what's allowed, and plan for security screening. Here's a quick, practical guide.
Children age 10 and older need a government-issued photo ID to visit. Double-check before you leave - missing ID means getting turned away at the door.
Kids nine and under need a certified long-form birth certificate. Make sure it's the long-form version - staff won't accept the short form at check-in.
Questions about visitation paperwork or requirements? Email visitation@doc.sc.gov or call the Visitation Inquiry Line at 803-896-1838 (press 1 for application questions).
Know your group size before you go. Each inmate can have up to four visitors at a time, and at least one must be an adult.
Leave anything wireless at home or locked in your car. Since February 1, 2016, all personal wireless devices - including fitness trackers and smartwatches - are banned inside SCDC facilities.
Skip the tobacco. SCDC has been tobacco-free since January 1, 2008, and any tobacco products are treated as contraband. Don't bring them onto agency property.
Contraband risk: Wireless devices (including smartwatches and fitness trackers) and tobacco products will cause problems at the entrance. Keep them locked in your vehicle.
Security screening is part of the process. Visitors 18 and older entering Level II and Level III institutions must submit to a pat/frisk search on top of standard screening procedures.
Not sure what to expect? Call 803-896-1838 (press 1) or email visitation@doc.sc.gov to confirm what screening applies based on the institution's security level.
