Before Your First Visit to Camille Graham: What You Can and Can't Bring

Bring valid identification for everyone visiting. Age cutoffs matter for kids: children age 10 and older need a government-issued photo ID. For children age nine and younger, bring a long-form (certified) birth certificate instead.

Personal devices that communicate wirelessly aren't allowed inside SCDC institutions. That includes easy-to-forget items like fitness trackers and smartwatches. This rule has been in place since February 1, 2016 - if it communicates wirelessly, leave it behind.

Tip: Leave wireless devices at home or locked in your vehicle. Don't count on exceptions - bring one with you, and you may be denied entry.

SCDC facilities are completely tobacco-free. Leave tobacco, tobacco products, paraphernalia, and lighting devices (lighters, matches) at home - they're banned from buildings and all SCDC property.

Reminder: Even "just in your pocket" counts. Leave tobacco and lighters behind before you arrive.

Expect a search when you arrive. Visitors age 18 and older entering Level II and Level III institutions must submit to a pat/frisk search on top of standard screening. The easiest way to speed through check-in? Come in with only what you need - and none of the prohibited items.

Female visitors are searched by female employees only. Knowing that ahead of time can ease some first-visit nerves.
