How to Mail Letters, Photos, and Books to Oklahoma County Jail (Digital scanning rules)
Oklahoma County Jail scans regular letters digitally, and small mistakes can get your envelope returned. Follow the address, size, and photo limits below to make sure your mail gets through.
Start by picking the right address. Regular letters go to a scanning facility in Longview, Texas (a PO Box). Books, magazines, and newspapers cannot be sent there. Those go directly to the Oklahoma County Detention Center street address in Oklahoma City.
Use these addresses exactly: For scanned letters (digital delivery): Oklahoma County Detention Center PO BOX 591 Longview, Texas 75606 For books and magazines (not scanned at the PO Box): 201 N. Shartel Ave OKC, OK 73102
Exact Addressing

Pages must be standard letter size or smaller: 8.5 inches wide by 11 inches tall. Anything larger cannot be processed and will be rejected.
There is also a strict page limit: no more than 5 pages per mailing. Go over, and the entire envelope gets returned. Extra pages are not skipped or forwarded separately.
Reminder: Count your pages before sealing the envelope. Stick to 8.5 x 11 paper (or smaller) and 5 pages max, or your mail comes back.
Oklahoma County scans the front side only. Treat every sheet as a single-sided document. Writing on the back will not be captured, and the mailing may be rejected entirely.
Do not use the back of the page: Any mail with writing on the back will be returned to the sender.
You can include 1 photo per mailing. That is a hard limit. If you put more than 1 photo in the envelope, the entire mailing (letter and all) gets returned. Nothing will be scanned or delivered.
- ✓ Include only 1 photo in the envelope (do not add a second “extra”)
- ✓ Do not write on the back of the photo
- ✓ Keep the rest of the mailing within the 5-page limit
Magazines, newspapers, bulk mail, and books cannot go to PO Box 591 in Longview, Texas. Send those items there and they will be returned.
Send books and magazines to the street address instead: 201 N. Shartel Ave, OKC, OK 73102. Follow OCDC mail guidelines for those materials.
Once your envelope arrives, staff scan the contents and deliver them electronically through the facility's messaging system.
Your loved one can view scanned mail on kiosks or tablets inside the facility (if available).
