Canyon County Jail Commissary: Deadlines, Weekly Limits, and What Happens If an Inmate Is Released Early
Commissary at Canyon County Jail runs on a weekly cycle, and one deadline matters most: Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. Miss it, and the money you send won't count until the following week.
Commissary day is Saturday. For funds to count toward that week's order, they need to be on the inmate's account before Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. Don't wait until Tuesday evening - if the money isn't there by the cutoff, it won't be available until the following Saturday.
Key deadline: Money must be on the inmate’s account before Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. for the Saturday commissary day.
Inmates can spend up to $75.00 per week from their commissary account. Adding more than that doesn't let them buy more right away - it just rolls over for future weeks. The $75.00 weekly cap still applies.
All commissary sales are final. Once a purchase is made, there are no refunds.
One common question: what happens if someone gets released before their order arrives? The credited amount is returned on a prepaid card, which can be picked up at the detention center visitation area.
Note: Any commissary orders that aren’t picked up will be donated to charity.
The easiest way to add funds is online through www.jailatm.com. You can do it from home without a trip to the jail.
If you prefer to add money in person, the jail has two kiosk options. There's a kiosk cashier in the detention center lobby and a Summit kiosk in the visitation lobby - both accept credit and debit cards.
Reminder: Canyon County no longer accepts money orders or cash for inmate funds - use the online option or the kiosks.
- Aim to add funds by Monday - it gives you a cushion so the money is on the account before the cutoff.
- Treat Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. as the hard deadline - money must be on the account before then to be included in the Saturday commissary day.
- Expect commissary on Saturday - that’s the jail’s commissary day, so planning around the weekly cycle helps avoid missed weeks.
