How to Put Money on an Inmate's Account at Canyon County Jail (kiosks, JailATM, why cash/money orders stopped)

Canyon County Jail offers three deposit methods, depending on what the funds are for. For commissary and trust fund deposits, you can pay online at www.jailatm.com. Prefer to deposit in person? There's a kiosk cashier in the jail lobby that takes credit and debit cards, plus a Summit kiosk in the visitation lobby that also accepts cards. For video visits and phone calls, you'll use a different site: www.inmatesales.com.

Policy: Canyon County Jail no longer accepts inmate funds in the form of cash or money orders.

For in-person deposits, head to the kiosk cashier in the jail lobby - it accepts credit and debit cards for inmate funds. You'll also spot a CTel kiosk in the lobby area, but that one's for video visits. Look for the right machine depending on what you need.

Your other in-person option is the Summit kiosk in the visitation lobby. It takes debit and credit cards and works for adding funds to an inmate's account.

Prepare Steps

  • Have a credit or debit card ready (the county’s listed kiosk options are card-based, and the online option is through www.jailatm.com).
  • Know exactly which account you’re trying to fund: commissary/trust funds are handled through www.jailatm.com, while video visit/phone funding is directed to www.inmatesales.com.
  • Double-check you’re selecting the correct inmate before you submit a payment online or at a kiosk.
  • If you’re going in person, plan to use the kiosk cashier in the lobby or the Summit kiosk in the visitation lobby (both accept credit/debit).

Tip: If you’re depositing online for commissary/trust funds, Canyon County Jail directs you to use www.jailatm.com - make sure you’re on that site before entering payment details.

Deposit not showing up? First, double-check you used the right site - www.jailatm.com handles commissary and trust funds, while www.inmatesales.com is for video visits and phone calls. For in-person deposits, note which kiosk you used (lobby kiosk cashier or Summit kiosk in the visitation lobby) and keep your confirmation receipt. If something still seems off, reach out through the contact options on Canyon County's detention center page.
