Summit Food Services runs the commissary at Canyon County Jail. Your loved one uses their commissary (trust) account to purchase approved items through that system.

You can add money to an inmate's commissary/trust account online through JailATM. For communication-related services like video visits or phone calls, Canyon County directs families to use InmateSales to schedule and fund those separately.

Canyon County lists two main online portals. JailATM handles trust account deposits for commissary. InmateSales is where you schedule visits and add funds for video visits or phone calls.

Prefer to handle things in person? There's a CTel kiosk in the jail lobby for video visits, and you can also fund an inmate's account at that kiosk. Canyon County notes additional kiosk options in the visitation lobby that accept credit and debit cards, including a kiosk cashier and a Summit kiosk.

Heads up: Canyon County no longer accepts money orders or cash for inmate accounts. Use the approved online portals or a card-based kiosk in the lobby.

Commissary day at Canyon County Jail is Saturday. If you want your loved one to have funds ready for that weekly order, timing matters.

The cutoff is Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. Any money deposited after that won't count toward that week's commissary processing.

Even if you deposit more, inmates are limited to spending $75.00 per week from their commissary/trust account. Keep that cap in mind so you're not caught off guard when only part of the balance is available for the weekly order.

Practical Steps

  • Use JailATM to place trust account funds into an inmate’s commissary account.
  • Use InmateSales to schedule a visit and/or place money into an inmate’s account for video visits or phone calls.
  • If you need to fund in person, use the lobby options (including the CTel kiosk). These kiosk options accept credit/debit cards.
  • Make sure the money is on the account before Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. so it is available for the Saturday commissary run.
  • Do not bring cash or a money order expecting to deposit it. Canyon County no longer accepts either for inmate funds.
  1. Use a lobby kiosk with a credit/debit card - Canyon County has kiosk options in the visitation lobby, and a CTel kiosk in the jail lobby, where you can place funding on an inmate account.
  2. Confirm your deposit is actually on the account - the commissary deadline is based on funds being on the account, not when you attempted the transaction.
  3. Beat the Tuesday 5:00 p.m. cutoff - if the money is not on the account prior to Tuesday at 5:00 p.m., it may not be available for the Saturday commissary processing.

If your loved one has less than $2.50 on their account, they're considered indigent and can request a free writing pack. Canyon County describes that pack as two stamped envelopes, a flex pen, and four sheets of paper.
