How to Send Mail to Someone at Canyon County Jail (post‑Jan 29, 2024 scanning policy)
Mail rules at Canyon County Jail changed in 2024. Send your letter to the right address with the correct info on the envelope, and it'll be scanned and delivered electronically to your loved one.
Starting January 29, 2024, Canyon County Detention Center scans all incoming inmate mail and delivers it electronically. There's a strict addressing rule: mail must go to one of two approved addresses. After March 29, 2024, anything sent elsewhere gets rejected.
For standard non-legal mail from friends and family, you can send your letter to either of the two addresses below. Whichever one you use, address the envelope with the inmate’s full name and inmate ID. [Inmate Full Name - Inmate ID] Canyon County Jail 219 N. 12th Ave. Caldwell, ID 83605 - or - [Inmate Full Name - Inmate ID] Canyon County Jail, ID PO Box 76550 Highland Heights, KY 41076
- ✓ Put the inmate’s full name and inmate ID on the address
- ✓ Include a return address on the envelope
Keep your mail scanner-friendly. It can't be larger than 8 1/2 x 11 inches (letter size) or thicker than light cardstock. The jail runs everything through a sheet-fed scanner, so skip anything bulky or rigid that won't feed through smoothly.
When your mail arrives, staff scan it and deliver it to the inmate electronically. The original gets destroyed afterward - so don't send anything you need back or want kept as an original.
