Canyon County Sheriff's Inmate Labor Detail (S.I.L.D.): Fees, Rules, and What to Bring
S.I.L.D. has set fees and strict day-of rules, so a little planning goes a long way. One thing to know upfront: if you can't participate because of a health or medical condition, the Canyon County Sheriff's Office is not responsible for contacting the court on your behalf. That's on you.
The S.I.L.D. program fee is $25.00 per month for Canyon County cases. For cases outside Canyon County, the fee is $30.00 per month.
If someone is sentenced to one day in S.I.L.D., the fee is $15.00.
- ✓ Pay with cash or money order only (exact change required).
- ✓ Track your “due date” by the day of the month you pay. That payment date becomes the due date for the next month (for example, paying on the 11th covers 11th through the 10th of the next month).
Missing a scheduled S.I.L.D. workday is costly. You forfeit all fees already paid, and the program does not issue refunds.
Want to keep working after a no-show? You'll need to pay a $25 no-show fee before you can continue.
- Go in person to reschedule - schedule changes must be handled face-to-face.
- Pay the rescheduling fee - rescheduling requires a $10 fee.
- Confirm the new day - make sure the updated workday is clearly set before you leave.
Bring Clothing

- ✓ Clothes appropriate for the climate (you may be working outside)
Wear a shirt and closed-toe shoes or boots for the entire detail. These are required at all times, no exceptions.
Not allowed: Sandals, spandex, shorts, tank tops, revealing clothing, gang colors, or anything printed with offensive or drug-related material.
Leave all tobacco at home. That includes cigarettes, chewing tobacco, nicotine products, and vapes. None of it is allowed while you're on S.I.L.D.
No weapons of any kind, including pocket knives and other sharp objects.

Caught with prohibited items? You may lose credit for the day and could be removed from the program entirely.
Family Checklist
