How to Schedule a Visit at Carson City Jail (appointment-only: Thursday window)
Visits at Carson City Jail are by appointment only. To schedule, you’ll need to call during the jail’s set phone window: Thursdays from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
If you need the general jail information line, call (775) 283-JAIL (5245).
To book a visit appointment, call (775) 283-4777 on Thursdays between 9:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. If you’re trying to reach the jail for general information (not the appointment line), the information number is (775) 283-5245.
Before calling, confirm you're eligible to visit. Carson City Jail requires visitors to be on the inmate's approved visitors list - if your name isn't on it, you won't get in even with an appointment. The jail also limits each visitor to one visit per week, so plan accordingly.
- ✓ No more than two visitors per visit
- ✓ One child may attend with the visitors
Attorney and legal counsel visits don’t follow the same limit - there are no restrictions on the number of attorney/legal counsel visits.
Bring a valid driver's license or other photo ID. You'll go through a security screening and may be subject to a physical search. U.S. or Canadian visitors need a valid picture ID; foreign visitors must present a valid passport.
Note: The on-duty supervisor can authorize a visit without ID in some cases, but always plan to bring proper identification.
If it’s not Thursday between 9:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M., or you can’t get through on the appointment line, your best fallback is the jail information line at (775) 283-JAIL (5245).
Visits happen on Saturdays only and last 15 minutes. They're supervised and non-contact, so come prepared to make the most of a short window.
