Getting Records and Services from the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office: Hours, Contacts, and What to Bring
Need a report, local criminal history, fingerprinting, or help with an old expungement? The Catoosa County Sheriff's Office Records Division is your starting point. Here are the hours, contacts, and exactly what to bring so you don't end up making a second trip.
The Catoosa County Sheriff's Office lobby is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. That's your window for handling Records Division needs in person - requesting report copies, submitting paperwork, or asking questions at the front counter.
After-hours help: If you arrive after hours or on a weekend, use the intercom on the reception counter to contact the Jail Control Room directly.
For Records Division questions or written requests, email catoosarecords@catoosa.com or rebecca.holcomb@catoosa.com. Email works well when you want a clear paper trail of what you asked for and what details you provided.
Getting a criminal history through the Sheriff's Office requires Catoosa County residency. Bring a valid Catoosa, Georgia driver's license - if you don't have one, you'll need proof of residence instead. You'll fill out a criminal history form, pay a $10 fee in exact change, then come back in 24 hours to pick it up. And plan on making that return trip yourself: no one else can collect the history for you.
The Sheriff's Office offers free fingerprinting for Catoosa County residents Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Non-residents, or anyone needing fingerprints with a full background check, should use the G.A.P.S. (Georgia Applicant Processing Services) website at www.ga.cogentid.com instead. For firearm permits, start at the Catoosa County Probate Office in the courthouse - the Sheriff's Office handles fingerprinting during the hours above.
- Confirm your arrest date - This process applies if you were arrested before July 2013.
- Bring your court disposition - You’ll need the disposition paperwork from the court.
- Complete the expungement form at the Sheriff’s Office - Fill out page 1 at the Sheriff’s Office.
- Pay the fee in exact change - Bring $25 in exact change.
- Wait while the packet is forwarded for review - The Sheriff’s Office completes its portion (page 2) and forwards the expungement package to the District Attorney’s Office for approval or denial.
- Watch for a phone call - You’ll be notified by phone with the decision and instructions for the next step; this may take 3–5 business days.
For other records, complete an open records request form and submit it to Sheriff's Office personnel. You'll get a response within three business days. Once the major or sheriff reviews and approves (or denies) your request, you'll be notified that it's ready - and there may be a fee.
