How to Get Approved for Visits at Cecil County Detention Center
Before you can visit someone at Cecil County Detention Center, you need to be on their official visitor list. That starts with the Inmate Visitor Application.
You can't just show up at Cecil County Detention Center and ask to visit. Every visitor has to be placed on the inmate's approved list first. Each inmate only gets one 30-minute visit per week, so the facility screens visitors through a formal application process before granting access.
Note: Getting "on the list" means completing the Inmate Visitor Application, and the inmate is the one who initiates it.
The process starts with the inmate. They receive the Inmate Visitor Application at intake, or they can request one in writing from their assigned counselor. If you're waiting to be added, let your loved one know you want to be on their visitor list and ask them to request the form if they don't already have it.
Note: You cannot pick up blank Inmate Visitor Application forms at the facility. The form has to come through the inmate.
Once you get the Inmate Visitor Application from the inmate, fill it out completely. Don't leave anything blank, or the detention center won't accept it. The exact fields can vary by form version, but expect to provide basic identifying information: your name, date of birth, and your relationship to the inmate. Be accurate.
- Get the application from the inmate - they receive it at intake or can request it in writing from their assigned counselor.
- Fill it out completely - only completed Inmate Visitor Application forms are accepted.
- Submit the completed form - you can drop off the completed application at the detention center or send it in via mail.
- Call with questions or to confirm details - the detention center office can answer questions about the process at 410-996-5800.
- ✓ Keep a copy of the completed application for your records.
- ✓ If you mail it, include a clear return address on the envelope.
- ✓ Write the inmate’s name (and any identifying number the facility uses for them, if you have it) neatly so the paperwork is matched to the right person.
After you submit the completed application (by dropping it off or mailing it in), don't assume you're approved. Before making the trip, call the office at 410-996-5800 to confirm your application has been processed and that you've been added to the visitor list. This can save you a wasted drive if something is missing or needs to be corrected.
Note: Each inmate gets one 30-minute visit per week. Call 410-996-5800 to confirm you're approved before planning around that weekly slot.
