Before you can schedule a video visit, you need to be approved through the visitor application process. That approval gets you on the incarcerated person's Approved Visitor List. Cedar Creek generally limits visitors to one person's list - so if you're already approved to visit someone else, that can affect where you can be added.

Note: Start the visitor application early. You can’t schedule video visits until you’ve been approved and placed on the Approved Visitor List.

When you create your Securus account, enter your first name, last name, and date of birth exactly as they appear on your legal ID. Skip middle names and initials entirely. Even small differences can cause matching problems, so take your time and get it right the first time.

  • Enter your first name, last name, and date of birth to exactly match your legal ID
  • Do not include a middle name or middle initial
  • Make sure you complete the visitor application approval process so you can be placed on the incarcerated person’s Approved Visitor List (scheduling only works for approved visitors)
  • Remember you generally can only be on one incarcerated person’s Approved Visitor List

After you submit your visitor application, you'll get an email when it's been processed. Use an email account you check regularly, and watch your spam folder so you don't miss it. One more thing: don't submit more than one application. Additional applications can void the previous one and restart the processing timeline.

Once you're approved, you'll schedule visits through Securus. If you're not on the Approved Visitor List yet, the system won't let you book anything - approval is the gatekeeper. Think of it as two steps: approval first, then scheduling.

Note: Check Cedar Creek’s published video-visit hours in the facility guidelines before you pick a time.

  1. Complete the visitor application - you must be approved before you can be placed on the incarcerated person’s Approved Visitor List.
  2. Wait for the email notification - you’ll be notified by email when your application has been processed.
  3. Log in to Securus with matching details - make sure your first name, last name, and date of birth match your legal ID exactly, and don’t include a middle name or initial.
  4. Schedule your video visit during the posted hours - once you’re approved and eligible, choose an available time within Cedar Creek’s video-visit schedule.

Common Setup Mistakes

  • Creating a Securus account with a name or date of birth that doesn’t exactly match your legal ID
  • Adding a middle name or middle initial in Securus (don’t)
  • Skipping (or not completing) the visitor application approval process, which prevents you from being placed on the Approved Visitor List

Note: These issues can delay approval or block scheduling. Double-check your legal ID and your entries before you submit anything.
