How Phone Calls Work from Central Florida Reception Center: Rates, Limits, and Free Weekly Calls
Phone calls are often the quickest way to stay connected, but the pricing and limits can be confusing at first. Here's how calling works from Central Florida Reception Center, including prepaid accounts, the free weekly call, current rates, and call limits.
At Central Florida Reception Center, the most common way to receive calls is through ConnectNetwork's AdvancePay. It's a prepaid phone account that you (the person receiving the call) set up and fund. When your incarcerated loved one calls you, the cost comes out of your prepaid balance. Keeping that account funded is the main thing to stay on top of if you want calls to go through consistently.
There's also a free-call option built into the GTL/ConnectNetwork contract. Each incarcerated individual gets one free phone call per week, up to 5 minutes. If you're watching your budget, that weekly 5-minute call is a reliable way to maintain regular contact without spending anything.
Under the GTL contract, calls within the North American Dialing Plan are billed at $0.135 per minute. So a full 30-minute call would cost about $4.05. Just multiply your talk time by $0.135 to estimate the charge.
Calls max out at 30 minutes. If you need a longer conversation, you'll have to split it across multiple calls.
There's also a cooldown between calls. Once a call ends, the incarcerated individual has to wait 30 minutes before placing another one. If you get disconnected or need to continue a conversation, plan for that gap. It helps to cover the most important updates early in the call, just in case you can't reconnect right away.
