What to Bring (and Not Bring) to a Visit at Central Florida Reception Center
Packing for a visit at Central Florida Reception Center is mostly about knowing what's allowed inside. Show up with extra items or the wrong kind of medication container, and you could be delayed or turned away at the door.
Keep it simple inside the visiting area. You may bring one (1) vehicle key. Keyless entry devices are prohibited unless a duty warden (or designee) visually inspects the device and approves it because it's your only way to access the vehicle and doesn't pose a security threat. If you're 16 or older, you'll need one (1) photographic ID to enter. Limited feminine hygiene products are allowed, but only in the amounts listed on the visitor information form.
You can bring cash for vending machines, but there's a strict cap: $50.00 per visitor, regardless of age. Only $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills are accepted. That cash is for purchasing snacks and beverages during the visit. You cannot give money to an inmate.
Infants Children Rules
- ✓ Up to five (5) diapers
- ✓ Up to three (3) clear baby bottles
- ✓ Up to two (2) toddler sipper cups
- ✓ Up to three (3) clear plastic jars of sealed (unopened) baby food
If you need prescription medication during your visit, bring only what you'll actually need for the time you're there. Central Florida Reception Center allows prescription medications only in the dosage necessary for the period of the visit.
Each prescription must be in its original container. The label needs to be clearly readable and show the type of medication, dosage requirements, and the name of the person it was prescribed to.
Warning: Do not bring a container that holds different types of medication. Mixed-med containers are not allowed into any department facility.
Do not bring: Needles or syringes are strictly prohibited, including leaving them anywhere on facility grounds. If you require injections, you must leave the institution, administer the injection off-site, and then return.
Bring something that's not on the authorized list (or more than the permitted amount)? As long as it's not contraband or illegal, you'll be asked to find a secure location for those items before your visit can proceed.
