What You Can and Can't Bring to a Visit at Central Florida Reception Center (Pack This Checklist)
Packing for a prison visit is stressful—the rules are strict and the allowed list is short. Here's what Central Florida Reception Center lets you bring in, and what will get stopped at the door.
If you’re 16 or older, you’ll need a valid picture ID to enter the visiting area at Central Florida Reception Center. You’re allowed to bring one (1) photographic identification card in with you, so plan on carrying only the ID you’ll actually use for check-in.
You can bring one (1) vehicle key into the facility. Keyless entry devices aren't allowed unless the duty warden (or designee) inspects it and confirms it doesn't pose a security threat. If your "key" is a fob, expect it to be checked - and possibly denied.
You can bring up to $50 in cash for vending machines - $1, $5, $10, or $20 bills only. This money is strictly for snacks and beverages. You cannot give any of it to an inmate under any circumstances.
If you take prescription medication, bring only what you need for the visit - just enough for the time you'll be inside. Leave your full supply at home; extra medication can cause problems at entry.
Keep any prescription medication in its original container with a readable label. The label must show the medication type, dosage, and the name of the person it was prescribed to.
Warning: Don’t combine medications. Containers holding different types of medication are not allowed into any department facility.
Safety rule: Do not bring needles or syringes onto facility grounds. If you require an injection, you must leave the institution for it and may return afterward.
Baby Items Limits
- ✓ No more than five (5) diapers
- ✓ Three (3) clear baby bottles
- ✓ Two (2) toddler sipper cups
- ✓ Three (3) clear plastic jars of sealed (unopened) baby food
Show up with something not on the authorized list - or more than the allowed amount - and you won't be able to take it inside. If the item isn't contraband or illegal, you'll need to find a secure spot for it until your visit ends.
