Before Your First Visit to Central New Mexico Correctional Facility: Complete Checklist
Your first visit goes much smoother when you handle the paperwork ahead of time. Use this checklist to make sure your NMCD forms are complete, your name is on the approved list, and your outfit meets facility rules.
The New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD) requires a visitor application called CD-100201.1. If you have never applied before, this is the form you need to complete and submit to be considered for visiting privileges.
Already applied in the past? The visitor application is not a one-time thing. CD-100201.1 must be renewed every two years, so check your timing if it has been a while.
You also need to read and sign the Visitor Statement of Understanding (CD-100201.A). NMCD requires all visitors to sign this before any visit.
Note: The Statement of Understanding includes search rules. If there is probable cause, a visitor may be ordered to submit to a strip search conducted by an employee of the same sex in a private area.
Do not assume you can just show up. All visitors must be on the inmate's current approved visitation list. Confirm you are approved before making the trip.
Central New Mexico Correctional Facility follows NMCD visiting rules, including the department-wide Dress Code for Visitors Attachment (CD-100201.B). If you are unsure about an outfit, keep it simple. You do not want to lose your visit over clothing.
- ✓ Hats
- ✓ Scarves
- ✓ Bandanas
- ✓ Headbands (or other types of headbands)
- Plan for any visitor under 18. A minor cannot enter without being properly identified and accompanied by a responsible adult relative, a parent, or a legal guardian.
- Bring the right documentation if the minor is married to the inmate. If the minor is not coming with a parent or legal guardian, documented proof of the minor’s legal marriage to the inmate is required for entry.
Bringing an infant? Expect a diaper change check before the visit starts. Parents or guardians must change the infant's diaper beforehand, and it has to be done in the presence of a correctional officer of the same sex as the parent.
- ✓ Complete the NMCD Visitor Application for Visiting Privileges (CD-100201.1)
- ✓ Renew CD-100201.1 if it has been close to two years since your last application
- ✓ Confirm you are on the inmate’s current approved visitation list before you go
