Visitation at Central New Mexico Correctional Facility

How to visit, scheduling, dress code, and visitor requirements

Overview

Before visiting Central New Mexico Correctional Facility (CNMCF), you'll need to complete NMCD's visitor application (CD-100201.1) and sign the Visitor Statement of Understanding (CD-100201.A). Approval lasts two years, then you'll need to renew. The inmate must also add you to their approved visitation list before you arrive. Each inmate can have up to three adult visitors plus up to three children under age six, space permitting. In-person visits run Monday through Friday only—no weekends. Schedule at least one week ahead, and visits are booked in two-hour blocks (typically 8–10, 10–12, or 1–3). A consecutive two-day visit option is available. Most visits are non-contact unless you're immediate family with proof of kinship. Inmates in restrictive housing aren't eligible for visits. Follow the dress code (CD-100201.B), and expect mandatory strip-searches before and after—refusing or bringing contraband will end your visit.

Why CNMCF Doesn’t Have Weekend Visits (And How to Plan Around It)

Planning a visit to Central New Mexico Correctional Facility (CNMCF)? Here's the first thing you need to know: there are no in-person visits on Saturdays or Sundays. But don't worry—you still have workable options, especially if you plan around the weekday time blocks and the two-day visit option.

Common Questions

How do I apply to visit someone at Central New Mexico Correctional Facility?

Complete and submit the NMCD visitor application form (CD-100201.1) and sign the Visitor Statement of Understanding (CD-100201.A). Renew your application every two years, and make sure the inmate has added you to their approved visitation list before your scheduled visit.

What are CNMCF's visiting hours and how far in advance must I schedule?

CNMCF in-person visitation is Monday through Friday only (no weekend visits). You must schedule at least one week in advance, and visits are booked in two-hour blocks—commonly 8–10, 10–12, or 1–3. Some holidays still have visitation, so check the facility schedule when you plan.

Can children visit and how many visitors can an inmate have at one time?

Children can visit only when properly identified and accompanied, or with proof of legal marriage to the inmate where applicable. An inmate may be limited to three visitors age six and older and up to three children age five and younger at one time if space permits. If you’re bringing an infant, the parent or guardian must change the diaper before the visit in the presence of a correctional officer of the same sex as the parent.
