Video Visits at Central Prison: Getting Out Visits App, On-Demand vs Scheduled
Central Prison offers video visits through the Getting Out Visits platform. You have two ways to connect: on-demand visits or scheduled appointments.
Central Prison allows video visits through the Getting Out Visits app. NCDAC facilities offer both in-person and video options, so you can choose what works best for your schedule and situation.
Want to visit in person? Plan ahead. In-person visits are by appointment only. You'll need to call or email the prison to schedule and confirm your visit.
For video visits, you can connect from home using a personal computer with an internet connection, webcam, microphone, and a recent web browser. This is helpful if traveling to the facility is difficult or you're juggling work, childcare, or distance.
Central Prison uses the Getting Out Visits app for video visits. You have two options: on-demand (start a visit right away) or scheduled (book a specific date and time in advance). On-demand works well when you want flexibility and a quick connection. Scheduling is better if you prefer something predictable.
- ✓ Choose on-demand if you want to try to talk sooner and do not want to plan around a set appointment time.
- ✓ Choose scheduled if you need a specific date/time you can count on (for example, coordinating multiple family members’ availability).
- ✓ Plan for home equipment if you are visiting remotely: a personal computer, webcam, microphone, and a recent web browser.
- ✓ If your setup is shared (work computer, school laptop, family desktop), test the camera and microphone ahead of time so you are not troubleshooting when your visit window opens.
Planning a video visit with someone at Central Prison? Start with the Getting Out Visits app. You may also see this referred to as making a video visit appointment, which is the scheduled option.
Cost basics: The Getting Out Visits app has no upfront or connection fees. You are charged only for the actual duration of the video visit.
Only people on the incarcerated person's approved visitors list can use video visits. Before you try to connect, confirm you're approved. This is especially important if you're a new visitor or your information has changed.
Each offender can have up to 18 approved visitors total, including adults and minors. Not sure if you're on the list? Ask your loved one to check who's currently approved before counting on video visiting.
