Visiting Central Prison: Day-of Checklist (Searches, Dress Code, and Banned Items)

Two things can derail your visit before you even get through the door: missing your appointment or wearing the wrong thing. Use this checklist to make sure you're ready.

Central Prison requires appointments for all in-person visits. You can't just show up. Before your first visit, you'll need to submit a visitor application and wait for approval from facility staff. Once your visit is scheduled, call Central Prison the day before to confirm visitation status. Schedules change, and a quick call can save you a wasted trip.

Everyone 16 and older goes through screening before entering. This includes a pat/frisk search and an electronic device scan. Refusing either one means you won't be allowed in.

Staff conduct the pat/frisk as part of the entrance process. Male visitors will only be searched by male officers.
