What Happens If You Break the Rules? Understanding Webster's Visitor Suspension Policy

Visits at Charles B. Webster Detention use a two-way, real-time video system - you'll see and speak with your loved one from the Visitor Center. Expect close oversight. All visitors are monitored, subject to recording, and may be searched. Staff watch for violations and act on them when they see them. Treat every visit like it's being watched and recorded, because it probably is.

No phones or recording devices: Cell phones and any other electronic recording devices are prohibited inside the video visitation area.

  • No smoking in the video visitation area
  • No eating in the video visitation area
  • No drinking in the video visitation area

Webster uses progressive discipline for rule violations. First offense? One-month suspension. Second offense? Three months. A third violation means permanent suspension - you lose visitation privileges for good.

Reminder: Visitors are monitored, subject to recording and search, and conversations may be recorded - so violations can be identified and acted on.

Behaviors and Items

  • Stamps and blank envelopes
  • Cash, checks, or any other forms of currency
  • Threats of physical harm against any person, or threats/details of criminal activity
  • Plans to smuggle contraband into or out of the institution
  • Information to formulate escape plans, to commit a crime, or to violate a jail rule
  • Solicitation of gifts, goods, money, or things of value from individuals or entities other than family or established close friends
  • Code or gang insignia
  • Obscene language or drawings
  • Information that, if communicated, would create a threat to the security of the institution

Some problems start during the visit itself. Bringing a cell phone or any electronic recording device into the video visitation area is prohibited - and it's the kind of rule that ends visits fast. Remember that conversations may be monitored. Anything that crosses into threats or planning criminal activity can trigger enforcement.

  1. Ask Visitor Center personnel - If you have a question about the visitation policy or a suspension, start with the staff at the Visitor Center.
  2. Request a Shift Supervisor - If the employee you speak with can’t answer your question(s), ask to speak with a Shift Supervisor.

If your question is about an inmate’s release date, bail amount, sentence information, or another inmate-related issue (rather than the visitation rule itself), you can call the Booking Desk anytime at 706-821-1110.
