If you need to send mail to MDOC’s central office, use this mailing address: Grandview Plaza, 206 E. Michigan Ave., P.O. Box 30003, Lansing, MI 48909.

MDOC’s published central contact hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST. If you’re trying to reach a central office staff member, calling or following up during that window usually gives you the best chance of getting a response.

For Charles Egeler Reception/Guidance Center (RGC), the general email for questions and visiting applications is mdoc-egeler-public@michigan.gov. If your issue is specific to getting a visiting application in or figuring out who to contact next, starting here can help you get routed correctly.

If your question is about how prisons operate day to day, it generally falls under the Correctional Facilities Administration (CFA). CFA is responsible for operating the state’s prisons, and it also manages several related functions that families often run into - like prisoner transportation and classification.

Tip: Questions about day-to-day operations, transportation, or classification usually start at the facility level (the local warden or facility operations office), with CFA overseeing these functions department-wide.

For parole and probation supervision issues, you’re usually looking for the Field Operations Administration (FOA). FOA is responsible for state parole and probation supervision, and the Parole Board is located under FOA - so parole-related processes and supervision questions often route through this side of MDOC.

Important: Do not contact the Parole Board to ask whether someone can be considered for parole or early release. The Parole Board is already reviewing all eligible cases.

If you’re trying to sort out reentry-related questions - like services connected to returning home - or you’re looking for the part of MDOC that handles the parole release process, that’s typically the Offender Success Administration. This administration coordinates services provided under the Prisoner Reentry program and also operates the Parole Release Unit.

For concerns about health care inside MDOC facilities, the Bureau of Health Care Services is the oversight office. It coordinates and monitors health care services for prisoners, including treatment for seriously mentally ill prisoners through the corrections mental health program.
