Putting Money on an Inmate’s Account at Chatham County: all your options
Need to add money for commissary at Chatham County? You've got a few options—online through JailATM or in person at the jail. Here's how each method works, plus fees, hours, and daily limits you should know about.
You can deposit money online through JailATM or use the kiosks and in-person options at the jail. The main differences? Online is more convenient. On-site kiosks work after hours. And both have the same fees and daily limits.
JailATM is the easiest option if you don't want to make a trip. You can transfer money using a credit card, debit card, or bank account - all from home.
Prefer to handle things in person? Chatham County has deposit kiosks at the jail. Handy if you're already heading there for another reason.
The deposit kiosks are available 24 hours a day. After hours or on weekends, you can also use the jail ATM machines in the Video Visitation building - no need to wait for weekday business hours.
- ✓ Video visitation: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–6:00pm
- ✓ Cashier’s booth: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–4:30pm
- ✓ Main lobby: Monday–Thursday, 6:00pm–9:00am; Friday 6:00pm–Monday 9:00am
Expect a $2.50 fee per transaction. This applies whether you use a jail kiosk or deposit through JailATM.
The daily cap is $300 per visitor per inmate. Exceptions exist for bonds, fines, child support payments, and the work release program - but you'll need supporting documents.
Tip: Since there's a $2.50 fee each time, combine deposits when you can. Can't get to the jail during staffed hours? JailATM or the ATM machines in the Video Visitation building work for after-hours and weekend deposits.
