How to Send Mail to Someone at Chatham County Detention Center (use JailATM/vendor address)
Chatham County Detention Center routes regular inmate mail through a scanning vendor. If you skip the JailATM process and address, your letter probably won't reach the person you're writing to.
The facility uses JailATM as a mail-scanning vendor for safety reasons. Non-legal, non-commercial mail goes through this system - either by submitting electronically at JailATM.com or by mailing to the vendor's address for scanning and electronic delivery.
Address your letter to the JailATM processing center in Atlanta exactly as shown below. The most common reason mail gets delayed? Missing details. Include the inmate's full name and Inmate ID # on the address line, along with "JailATM.com – Chatham County Jail." Once the vendor receives your mail, it's scanned and delivered electronically to the inmate. The original gets destroyed after processing - don't send anything you need back or want preserved in physical form.
Addressing matters. Since August 1, 2020, non-legal and commercial mail that isn't properly addressed gets returned or discarded. Double-check that you've used the correct JailATM format and included the inmate's full name and Inmate ID #.
Note: All letters marked “Return to Sender” will be destroyed if received after February 22, 2021.
