What to Bring (and What to Leave Home) for Your Chelan County Jail Visit
Chelan County Jail visits go smoother when you show up with the right ID, the right clothing, and almost nothing in your hands. Use this as your pack list so you don't get turned away at check-in.
Bring a physical photo ID and have it ready at check-in. Chelan County Jail accepts a driver's license with a picture, a military ID, or a state ID with a picture. No acceptable ID, no visit. Double-check your wallet before you leave home.
Tip for kids: If a child coming with you has a photo ID (like a school ID or driver's license), bring it along and present it at the visit.
Dress like you want to clear security on the first try. Chelan County Jail requires appropriate clothing, including shoes and shirts, and staff can deny your visit based on what you're wearing. Skip miniskirts (or similar attire), low-cut or revealing necklines, bare midriffs, and anything with obscene or offensive language.
Warning: If your clothing does not meet these rules, you can be denied entry for the visit.
Keep your belongings to a bare minimum. The jail does not allow any property in the visiting booth except your vehicle keys. Leave your cell phone, purse, and other personal items in your car or at home. Bring extra items to the visiting area and you risk getting turned away or having to go back out and restart check-in.
Practical tip: Put only your vehicle keys on a simple keyring and leave everything else secured in your car before you go inside.
Do not bring weapons. Period. Chelan County Jail does not permit weapons in the visiting booth. The only item allowed inside is your vehicle keys.
Make sure your group size and names match your signup. Chelan County Jail allows up to three visitors per visit, and only the names given at signup will be permitted in. If someone can't make it, you can't swap in a different person.
Bringing children? Plan for supervision and ID. All minor children must be accompanied by an adult. The jail also encourages any child who has a photo ID (like a school ID or driver's license) to bring it and present it at the time of the visit.
