Before Your First On‑Site Visit to Cherokee County Jail: What to Bring and What to Leave Behind
Your first visit goes much smoother when you show up with the right ID and nothing extra. Here's a quick guide to on-site visitation rules at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.
To visit through iWebVisit.com, you must be at least 18. Visitors under 18 can still come in person or visit remotely, but only when accompanied by an adult.
Bring proof of age if you look young: If you appear under 18 and arrive without an adult, you won't be allowed to visit until you show a valid, government-issued photo ID.
Items to Bring
- ✓ A valid, government-issued photo ID (especially if you might be mistaken for under 18)
- ✓ Peace of mind about payment: on-site video visitation is available at no cost
If staff think you might be under 18 and you're not with an adult, you'll need to prove your age before visiting. A valid, government-issued photo ID is what they accept.
Leave personal items behind: Do not bring personal items into the visitation area, including cell phones and purses.
Prohibited Items
- ✓ Cell phones
- ✓ Purses (and other personal items)
- ✓ Food
- ✓ Beverages
- ✓ Smoking
Expect to be searched before you enter the visitation area. If you refuse the search, you will be denied entry.
Dress and behavior matter during visits. Keep things straightforward and appropriate. Avoid anything that could be seen as sexual or illegal, even if you think it's "off camera."
Zero tolerance: Illegal or sexual behavior (on or off camera) can end your visit immediately, with no refund, and you can be blocked from all visitation for at least 7 days.
The facility specifically prohibits disrobing and any sexual behavior, on or off camera. If it happens, your visit ends immediately with no refund, and you can be blocked from all visitation for at least seven days.
Schedule your on-site visit at least one day in advance. Same-day scheduling won't meet the facility's requirements.
- Plan for a 30-minute visit - On-site visits are limited to 30 minutes.
- Bring no more than one additional person to your terminal - No more than two visitors are permitted at each terminal.
- Know the daily limit - Each inmate is allowed one on-site visit per day.
- Time it to the assigned visitation day - That one daily visit is only available on the inmate’s assigned visitation day.
Good news: On-site video visitation at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center is available at no cost.
