Before Your First Video Visit at Cherokee County: rules checklist to avoid being blocked
Video visits are convenient, but Cherokee County enforces strict rules. Follow this checklist to keep your visit from getting cut short—or your account blocked.
You must be at least 18 to use iWebVisit for Cherokee County video visits. Under 18? You can still participate, but an adult needs to be with you during the call - whether you're visiting on-site or remotely. If you look young and try to visit solo, staff may block you until you show a valid, government-issued photo ID proving your age.
Heads up: Except for attorneys and other approved confidential visitors, all video visits are monitored and recorded.
Cherokee County treats video visits like in-person visits, and they enforce the same behavior standards. Any illegal activity or sexual behavior - including disrobing - will get your visit terminated immediately. This applies whether it happens on camera or off.
Visiting from home? Stay fully clothed the entire time. Don't take pictures, screenshots, or video of the inmate during the session. Even though you're at home, treat it like you're in a visitation room - the same rules apply.
Prohibited Actions
- ✓ Don’t take pictures, screenshots, or video of the inmate during the visit.
- ✓ Don’t do a remote visit while operating a motor vehicle.
No second chances: Illegal/illicit behavior (including disrobing or sexual behavior) can end the visit with no refund, trigger a block for at least 7 days, and may lead to criminal charges.
Onsite Practical
- ✓ Don’t bring personal items into the visitation area (including cell phones and purses).
- ✓ No smoking, food, or beverages in the visitation area.
Visiting on-site? Expect a search before you enter the visitation area. Knowing this ahead of time helps you avoid surprises at the door.
Quick Checklist
- ✓ If you’re under 18, have an adult with you; if you appear under 18 and arrive alone, be ready to prove your age with a valid government-issued photo ID.
- ✓ Stay fully clothed and keep the visit appropriate the entire time.
- ✓ Don’t take pictures, screenshots, or video during the visit.
- ✓ For on-site visits, leave personal items (like your phone and purse) out of the visitation area.
- ✓ Be prepared to be searched before entering the visitation area.
Plan around the scheduling window and time limits. Remote visits can be booked same-day (up to one hour before start time) or up to three weeks ahead. They're available seven days a week during posted hours. Each inmate gets three remote visits per day, and each visit lasts 15 minutes - so coordinate with other family members before you book.
