Free On‑Site Video Visits vs. Paid Remote Visits at Cherokee County Jail: How to Choose

Cherokee County Adult Detention Center offers both on-site video visitation (at the Visitation Center) and remote video visitation. On-site works best when you want a longer visit without paying per session. Remote visits are built for convenience: same-day scheduling, no travel required.

On-site video visitation at the Visitation Center is free. If you want to stay connected without adding another expense, this keeps the visit itself at no cost.

On-site visits require some planning. You must schedule at least one day in advance, and each inmate is limited to one on-site visit per day on their assigned visitation day. That assigned day (and the available time blocks) depends on the inmate's housing unit, so check where the person is housed before you book.

Remote visits offer more scheduling flexibility. You can book the same day (up to one hour before the start time) or schedule up to three weeks ahead. Remote visits are shorter and cost money. Each inmate can have up to three remote visits per day, with each session lasting 15 minutes. Standard visitors pay $6.00 per visit. Approved confidential visitors (such as attorneys) pay $7.00 per visit.

Two cancellation scenarios come up often. If the inmate cannot or will not attend a scheduled visit, the visit is canceled and a replacement code is emailed to the primary visitor.
