Connecticut runs its tablet program statewide through a contract with JPay (a Securus Technologies company), signed on April 4, 2019. This covers tablets at all state facilities, including Cheshire Correctional Institution. The basic setup and rules stay consistent across the DOC.

E-messaging has been available at all Connecticut DOC facilities - including Cheshire - since June 13, 2023. For many families, it's a faster, more flexible option alongside regular mail. You send a message without waiting on postal delivery, and your loved one reads and responds on their tablet when they have access.

Need to add money for tablet media? Connecticut DOC lets incarcerated individuals transfer funds into their Tablet Media Account using the CT DOC Special Request Form. The person inside initiates this through the facility's standard paperwork process.

Balance cap: Tablet Media Account balances cannot exceed $150.
