Attorney Visits at Chilton County Jail: Checklist for Lawyers Before They Come

Attorneys can visit their clients at Chilton County Jail. Visits are restricted to current clients only, and the purpose must relate to the client's incarceration.

You can meet face-to-face or through telephone visitation. Need a different arrangement? Get authorization from jail administration ahead of time.

ID Prohibited Items

• ✓ Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID.
• ✓ Bring a current Bar Card that shows your ASB number (you won’t be granted access if your Bar Card is not up-to-date).

• ✓ Do not bring electronic devices (cellphones, computers, tablets, or similar) into the presence of an inmate unless you have prior authorization from jail administration.
• ✓ Do not bring bags, briefcases, purses, wallets, or keys into the presence of an inmate.

Attorney visits run Monday through Friday in three time blocks: 8:00am–11:00am, 1:00pm–4:00pm, and 5:00pm–7:00pm.

All visits must wrap up by 8:00pm. If you need to come outside these time blocks, you'll need administration approval.

1. Confirm your credentials are ready - bring a valid government-issued photo ID and a current Bar Card showing your ASB number.
2. Strip down what you carry - keep electronic devices (phone/tablet/laptop) and any bags, briefcases, purses, wallets, and keys out of the inmate’s presence unless you have prior authorization.
3. Plan your timing - aim for the weekday attorney-visit blocks (8:00am–11:00am, 1:00pm–4:00pm, 5:00pm–7:00pm) and make sure the visit is completed by 8:00pm.
4. Get approval for exceptions ahead of time - if you need special circumstances or a visit outside the normal hours, arrange administration approval before you show up.
