Send Photos & Mail at Chuckawalla Valley SP (CVSP)

How to send messages, photos, and packages

Overview

CDCR has awarded a new statewide telecommunications contract to Securus, and Chuckawalla Valley State Prison (CVSP) will transition from ViaPath to Securus. Until CVSP completes the switch, keep using ViaPath. Once CVSP transitions, you'll need to create a Securus account for video calls and electronic messaging. During the changeover, incarcerated people must turn in their ViaPath tablets and will receive new Securus tablets—any ViaPath-purchased content (photos, e‑messages, or media) will not transfer. The good news: Securus rates are lower. Video calls cost $0.10 per minute (vs. $0.16), e‑messages cost $0.03 (vs. $0.05), and Securus includes 30 free video minutes per month. Securus Video Connect is web-based and works through the free Securus app or a computer. You can add funds with AdvanceConnect for prepaid video sessions.

Do incarcerated people at CVSP need to return ViaPath tablets before getting Securus devices?

Yes. Incarcerated people at CVSP must turn in their ViaPath tablet and will receive a new Securus tablet during the transition.

How do I pay for video calls and messaging once CVSP moves to Securus?

Once CVSP transitions, you'll need a Securus online account for video calls and electronic messaging. Use AdvanceConnect in the Securus app to add funds for prepaid video sessions and enable video features. Free standard phone calls don't require a Securus account, but video and e‑messaging do.

If a CDCR‑approved vendor mishandles or loses a quarterly package for someone at CVSP, who is responsible?

CDCR says it isn’t affiliated with and isn’t liable for approved vendors, and buyers assume all risk for purchases. If something is lost or mishandled, contact the vendor directly.

What information should I put on the envelope when sending mail to someone at CVSP?

Use the incarcerated person’s full booked name and the required identifier (booking number, X‑reference, or PFN). Also include your printed return name and address so mail can be returned if needed.
