What Happens When You Arrive at Clallam Bay: Check-In Step by Step
First-time visits can feel stressful — you don't know what to expect when you walk up. Here's the step-by-step flow for checking in at Clallam Bay Corrections Center (CBCC).
Before you leave home, check CBCC's facility webpage for Facility Alerts & Notices and the current visit/video visit schedules. Takes a minute. Could save you a long drive only to find visiting cancelled or running on a different schedule.
Tip: Check alerts and schedules again the day you travel - a quick re-check can save you a wasted trip.
Plan to be at the speaker box about 10–15 minutes before your visit time. That small buffer gives you room to handle check-in without feeling rushed.
- Arrive at the speaker box - Aim for 10–15 minutes before your scheduled visit.
- Wait for the tower officer’s instruction to proceed - Don’t drive forward until you’re told to.
- Park on the visitor side and enter as directed - After you’re cleared to move, locate a spot on the visitor side of the lot and continue into the facility following instructions.

Note: If someone drops you off, they can make sure you’ve been allowed access, but they can’t stay on facility grounds after you’ve been processed for visiting.
During intake, you’ll be asked to sign DOC 21-575, the Acknowledgment of Visitor Search Requirements. Signing that form is part of the process before you can visit, so expect it as a standard step when you’re checking in.

Heads up: Searches can involve you, your vehicle, and your personal property. If you have a medical device or anything that could affect screening, tell staff and follow their instructions while you’re being processed.
Once you're checked in, you'll store items that aren't allowed in the visiting area. Drivers can keep one car key and/or remote on a single-ring key chain, but your keys go in a locker in Public Access before you enter. You may also be allowed to carry one form of ID into the visiting area.

- ✓ Load funds onto the card for vending machine purchases; visitors can load up to $40, plus an additional $20 for the incarcerated individual.
- ✓ Don’t bring cash into the visit room; cash is not allowed there.
- Follow staff directions after check-in - Staff will guide you on where to go next.
- Proceed from Public Access to the visiting area - Move through the process as directed, including where to wait and when to enter.
