Mailing Letters and Photos to Clark County Detention Center: What’s Allowed and What Gets Returned

All letters and photos go to CCDC's PO Box (the address updated on 6/8/2023). Write the incarcerated person's full name and Inmate ID clearly on the envelope so the mail room can match it correctly. Every piece of mail also needs your return address - without one, it may get held up or sent back.

  • Inmate Name – Inmate ID Number
  • Clark County Detention Center
  • PO Box 43059
  • Las Vegas, NV 89116
  • Your full return address (required)

All social (non-legal) mail gets opened and screened for contraband before delivery. If something in your envelope breaks the rules, staff will return it to you instead of passing it along. Keep things simple and standard - that's your best bet.

Tip: Anything unusual in your letter or photos will get extra scrutiny. The mail room can - and will - return items that don't meet the rules.

Mailing Letters and Photos to Clark County Detention Center: What’s Allowed and What Gets Returned

CCDC is strict about the basics. Use a white envelope and white paper only. Write in blue ink, black ink, or pencil - no other colors, no markers. Keep pages standard size: nothing larger than 8.5 x 11 inches.

Photos are allowed, but they can't be larger than 8 x 6 inches. Content matters too - anything pornographic, sexually suggestive, nude, partially nude, or sexually explicit will be rejected.

  • Use only white envelopes and white paper
  • Write only in blue ink, black ink, or pencil
  • Keep letter paper no larger than 8.5 x 11 inches
  • Keep photos no larger than 8 x 6 inches
  • Don’t send pornographic, sexually suggestive, nude, partially nude, or sexually explicit photos

Most mail gets rejected over format issues. Send anything other than white paper in a white envelope, and you're raising your chances of getting flagged. Since all social mail is opened and checked, anything that looks altered or non-standard can end up returned instead of delivered.

  1. Use plain white paper and a white envelope - CCDC only accepts white envelopes and white paper.
  2. Keep the mailing simple - avoid anything that makes the envelope feel non-standard or harder to screen.
  3. Stick to standard letter size - use regular pages instead of oversized paper.
