In-Person vs. Remote Video Visits at Clark County Jail: Which Should You Choose?

At the Clark County Detention Center (CCDC), you have two ways to visit: a free onsite visit or a paid remote video visit (effective Oct. 8, 2024). Either way, you’ll need to register before you can visit - registration can be done online or in person at CCDC.

If cost is the deciding factor, onsite visits win: they’re free. Remote video visits have a set price of $6.25, and that cost doesn’t change if your session ends early or you don’t use the full time.

Remote video visits max out at 25 minutes. CCDC caps inmates in good standing at two 25-minute visits per week total, so plan ahead and make each one count.

Onsite Availability Limits

  • Monday–Friday: 7:30 a.m.–10:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m.
  • Saturday–Sunday: 7:30 a.m.–10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m.–2:30 p.m., and 7:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m.

For onsite visits, CCDC keeps the group size tight: a maximum of three visitors total are allowed on a visit, with no exceptions. Everyone over age 13 needs proper government-issued photo ID, and all minors must be accompanied by an adult. Expect screening before you enter. Visitors are checked at random for warrants and are subject to search. Also plan around interruptions: there’s no visitation during mealtimes, lockdowns, or inmate count times. One rule that catches people off guard is phones. Using a cell phone during in-person visitation isn’t allowed, and it can end your visit early - leave it put away so you don’t lose your time together.

Watch-outs that end a remote visit immediately: Remote video visits can be terminated right away for nudity, live streaming, or operating a vehicle during the visit. If you’ve paid for the session, it’s worth setting up in a private place and staying fully off the road.

Remote visits are still a solid option when you can’t get to the jail in person - just plan around the limits. Each remote video visit is up to 25 minutes, and it costs $6.25 regardless of how long you actually talk.
