Before Your First Visit to Clatsop County Jail: What to Bring and What to Leave Behind
Your first jail visit goes smoother when you show up with the right stuff—and nothing that'll get you turned away at the door. Here's what to know before heading to Clatsop County Jail.
Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID. Staff will check it before letting you in, and there's no getting around this one - no ID, no visit.
Clatsop County Jail doesn't allow visitors under 18. Minors aren't permitted in visitation at all, so plan accordingly.
No entry: If you’re on probation, parole, or electronic monitoring, you will not be allowed to visit.

You'll go through screening when you arrive. Everyone entering the facility is subject to a search of their person and belongings - another good reason to bring as little as possible.
Dress conservatively. Provocative clothing, sexually suggestive outfits, or anything resembling gang apparel can get you turned away at the door.
Denied at the door: If you show up under the influence of alcohol or drugs - or if you cause any type of disturbance - you won’t be allowed to visit.
No smoking, eating, or drinking in the visiting area - including the restrooms. Plan ahead so you're not stuck tossing something out or cutting your visit short.
Each person in custody gets one in-person visit per week, lasting up to 60 minutes. Visiting hours are Saturday and Sunday, 10:00am to 4:00pm. The visiting area closes for lunch, so time your arrival accordingly.
Even if you follow every rule, visits depend on staff availability and facility needs - they can be stopped or canceled at any time. Break the rules and you could lose visiting privileges for up to 90 days. One more thing: if you were previously incarcerated at Clatsop County Jail, you can't visit for 60 days after your release.
