Visiting Someone at Clatsop County Jail: Weekend Hours, Time Limits, and Key Rules

In-person visitation at Clatsop County Jail reopened on December 1, 2023. That said, visits still depend on staffing and the jail's operational needs - plan with some flexibility built in.

Visiting hours are Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. These are the only scheduled times for in-person visits.

The visiting area closes for lunch during those hours, so the 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. window isn't continuous. Build in extra buffer time so you don't arrive during the closure.

  • One in-person visit per week is allowed for each person in custody.
  • Each visit is limited to a maximum of 60 minutes.

Note: All visits depend on staff availability and jail operations. Visiting can be stopped or canceled at any time - confirm your plan before you make the trip.

Bring photo ID. You'll need to show it at check-in, and you can be turned away without it.

This is an adults-only facility for visitors. No one under 18 is allowed inside - even with an adult.

Visiting Area Rules

  • No smoking, eating, or drinking in the visiting area (including in restrooms).
  • No cell phones in the visiting area, and no photography or sharing of photos or notes.
  • No purses, backpacks, or bags inside the visiting area.

Show up sober. If you arrive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, you won't be allowed in. The jail can also deny visits for any disturbance, and you may be removed if things escalate once you're inside.

Expect screening at the door. Everyone entering the facility is subject to search - you and your belongings. Purses, backpacks, and bags aren't allowed in the visiting area, so leave personal items in your vehicle before you go in.

  1. Bring photo ID - you must show photo identification before you’ll be allowed to visit.
  2. Dress conservatively - proper attire is required, and clothing can’t be provocative, sexually suggestive, or associated with gang apparel.
  3. Arrive sober and steady - if staff believe you’re under the influence of alcohol or drugs, you won’t be allowed to visit.

Warning: Violating visiting rules can result in a suspension of your visiting privileges for up to 90 days.
