Setting Up Phone Calls with Securus and 5 Things to Know Before Your First Call

Phone calls with someone at Clayton County CI go through Securus. You can set up either a pre-paid collect account or a direct bill account on the Securus website, or by calling 1-800-844-6591. Want to be ready for that first call? Get your account set up ahead of time - it's the simplest way to avoid missed connections.

Securus offers two main account types: pre-paid collect or direct bill. Both are set up through Securus (online or by phone at 1-800-844-6591). The best choice depends on how you want charges handled and whether multiple family members will be contributing. Not sure which one fits? Starting the signup process will make it clear.

One helpful detail: a single pre-paid collect account can include multiple phone numbers. That's useful if you want calls to reach you at more than one number - say, a cell phone and a home phone - or if several family members need to be reachable.

Deposit limit: Deposits to Securus pre-paid collect accounts are capped at $200.00 per deposit. If you planned to add more than that at once, you’ll need to split it into multiple deposits.

Assume your first call isn't private. Calls from offenders may be monitored and recorded. Keep the conversation focused on support, day-to-day updates, and anything you'd be comfortable saying out loud to someone else.

Keep calls simple - don't try to add people mid-conversation. Call forwarding and three-way calling aren't permitted on offender calls. Using either can cause the call to disconnect.

Calls have a hard time limit: 25 minutes max. Prioritize what you want to cover first, especially if you're expecting updates about family, housing, or paperwork.

Not every number can receive calls. Offender calls are restricted to phone numbers on the offender's Call Allow List. If your number isn't on that list, the call won't connect - even if you've already set up and funded your Securus account.
