How to Send Mail to Someone at Clements After the Digital Mail Switch (September 2023)

On September 6, 2023, TDCJ switched all units to a digital mail platform. Personal mail for someone at Clements no longer goes directly to the unit - it's sent to a centralized processing center first.

Address your envelope exactly like this: Texas Department of Criminal Justice, the inmate's full first and last name plus their TDCJ number, then PO Box 660400, Dallas, TX 75266-0400. The name and TDCJ number connect your letter to the right person - don't leave either one off.

Once your envelope arrives, it's handled at the digital mail processing center - not opened at Clements. Staff sort and scan incoming mail, then upload it to the inmate's secure tablet. That's the core of the September 6, 2023 change: your loved one receives a digital copy, even though you mailed a physical letter.

Note: Because mail is reviewed as part of the processing and scanning workflow, content can be withheld if it includes contraband or other disallowed material.
